Onycholysis – Separation of nail

Some conditions can cause separation of a nail from its nail bed. This separation can occur gradually and painlessly, evading detection. Fungal infections may gain entry when a nail has lifted. This can then thicken the tissue underneath the nail plate and cause the nail to lift further. Discolouration is common.

Cut nails to a comfortable length so that they will be less likely to endure repeated trauma. If you suspect you have a fungal infection, there are treatment options. Topical or oral medication can be prescribed by your G.P. or indeed 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 may be your preferred option. We will be happy to advise on the most suitable treatment.
