Plantar fasciitis or ‘heel spur pain’ results from repetitive micro-injury to the heel. This results in localised pain over the inner heel where the ligament attaches to the bone. Stretching and massaging your heel increases blood flow and encourages tissue healing. Rollers can relieve painful spurs and plantar fasciitis while accelerating recovery.

In a seated position with the roller on a firm smooth surface, gently place your heel on the roller. The tissues of the ‘arch of the foot’ and the area of discomfort are gently massaged by slow forward and backward movements. Avoid excessive force or standing on the roller. Rolling the soft tissues of the heel and arch for 10 minutes, at least twice per day is recommended for treatment of plantar fasciitis.
